— WHAT IS DEFIBRILLATOR CALIBRATION —
When a patient goes into ventricular fibrillation, every second counts — and the defibrillator must deliver exactly the energy the clinician selects. A unit that displays 200 J but delivers only 140 J may fail to restore normal rhythm. A unit that delivers 260 J may cause myocardial damage. Accuracy is literally life-or-death in this context.
Defibrillator calibration measures actual delivered energy at multiple levels using a calibrated 50Ω load analyser, verifies synchronisation mode performance, and checks charge time and battery capacity. The result is documented per IEC 60601-2-4 — a NABL certificate accepted by NABH, WHO GMP, and FDA auditors that proves your defibrillator is safe and accurate for clinical use.

Delivered energy measured at 5+ levels (10, 50, 100, 200, 360 J) using calibrated defibrillator analyser into 50Ω test load. Deviations recorded.
R-wave synchronisation delay measured. Sync mode accuracy verified against ECG reference signal per IEC 60601-2-4.
Post-adjustment delivered energy re-measured at all calibration points. Expanded uncertainty calculated per ISO/IEC 17025.
