— WHAT IS BUTYROMETER CALIBRATION —
Think of a quality lab that relies on a butyrometer for daily measurements. If it has drifted even slightly from its true value, every reading becomes unreliable — leading to defective products, failed audits, or safety risks. Butyrometer calibration means comparing its readings against a NABL-traceable certified reference standard at multiple test points, recording the deviations, adjusting where possible, and issuing an NABL certificate — accepted by ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and all quality auditors.

— OUR PROCESS —
Butyrometer inspected for stem cracks, plug condition, scale legibility, and tip damage. Scale graduation and reference marks checked per IS 1479.
Nominal scale positions identified (e.g., 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% for milk type). Reference fat-equivalent gravimetric values assigned to each calibration point.
Butyrometer tube filled with reference material of certified fat equivalent. Volume of fat column formed corresponds to calibration reference point. 3–5 readings at each setpoint.
Indicated reading compared to certified fat-equivalent value at each calibration setpoint. Systematic error and standard deviation computed.
Expanded uncertainty (k=2) per GUM. Contributions: reference fat standard uncertainty, scale reading resolution, repeatability, and temperature effects.
NABL CC-2480 certificate reporting nominal fat %, measured value, error, expanded uncertainty (k=2), IS 1479 / ISO 488 traceability, and calibration date.
