— WHAT IS STACK EMISSION TESTING —

Stack Emission Testing —
What It Is & Why It's Required

Stack emission testing is the measurement of air pollutants discharged from industrial chimneys, stacks, vents, and combustion sources — at the point of emission. It is mandated by GPCBunder the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act 1981 and is a critical component of every industry's Consent to Operate (CTO) conditions in Gujarat.

Mandatory under GPCB Consent Conditions

Every GPCB CTO specifies the stacks/sources to be tested, parameters to be measured, applicable emission limits, and testing frequency. Non-compliance with testing or emission limits can result in consent cancellation.

NABL Accreditation Required

GPCB accepts stack emission reports only from NABL-accredited or GPCB-approved laboratories. Prism's NABL accreditation CC-2480 covers all major stack emission parameters.

Performance Verification Tool

Stack testing verifies the effectiveness of your pollution control equipment — scrubbers, bag filters, ESPs, cyclones — and helps identify when maintenance or upgrades are needed.

— OUR PROCESS —

Stack Emission Testing Process — Step by Step

Our 6-step stack testing methodology follows NABL and GPCB requirements — traceable, documented, and regulatory-submission ready.

01
STEP 01

Consent Review & Test Plan

Review of your GPCB consent conditions — identifying all emission sources (stacks/vents), parameters to be tested, applicable emission standards, and required test frequency. Customized test plan with sampling port locations and schedule prepared.

02
STEP 02

Site Safety Assessment

Pre-visit safety assessment of all stack sampling locations — access platform safety, sampling port condition, required PPE, hot work permits, and working-at-height precautions. Ensures safe and complete testing at all emission points.

03
STEP 03

Onsite Stack Sampling

NABL-trained sampling team mobilized with isokinetic sampling train, flue gas analyzers (electrochemical and non-dispersive infrared), thermal imaging for leak detection, and calibrated pitot tubes. Stack velocity, temperature, and all GPCB-specified parameters sampled per IS/EPA methods.

04
STEP 04

NABL Laboratory Analysis

Collected filter media, impinger solutions, and grab samples analyzed at our NABL-accredited laboratory (CC-2480). SPM by gravimetry, gaseous pollutants by specific chemical analysis, heavy metals by AAS/ICP-OES. All results with measurement uncertainty.

05
STEP 05

Compliance Evaluation

Measured emission concentrations compared against your GPCB consent limits. Mass emission rates calculated and compared against applicable CPCB General Standards (GSR 742E) and industry-specific notifications. Non-compliances flagged with corrective action recommendations.

06
STEP 06

NABL Report & GPCB Submission

Comprehensive stack emission test report in NABL format with all QA/QC documentation, GPCB compliance table, and photographic documentation of sampling setup. Report ready for GPCB submission with consent renewal application.
