Dimensional calibration is the process of checking your measuring instruments — calipers, micrometers, dial gauges — against a certified reference standard to confirm they are reading accurately. If they have drifted, corrections are applied and documented in a NABL certificate.

Dimensional Calibration Process — Step by Step
Every dimensional calibration follows our documented ISO/IEC 17025 procedure — traceable, repeatable, auditable.
Receipt & Identification
Instrument received and tagged with a unique job number. Make, model, serial number, and range recorded. Visual inspection for damage, wear, or contamination documented.
As-Found Measurement
Initial readings recorded at multiple calibration points without adjustment — captures the instrument's existing error, drift, and deviation from nominal value.
Comparison vs Reference Standard
Instrument compared against NPL/BIPM-traceable Grade-A gauge blocks, length bars, or master ring gauges. Deviations recorded at all verification points.
Adjustment (Where Applicable)
For adjustable instruments, corrections are applied. Non-adjustable gauges (ring/plug) are verified for compliance only. All corrections documented.
As-Left Verification
Post-adjustment readings verified at all calibration points. Expanded uncertainty (k=2, 95% confidence) calculated per ISO/IEC Guide 98-3 (GUM). Pass/fail determined.
NABL Certificate Issued
